Brendan Rodgers' debrief

The manager is chuffed along with his team’s performance and reckons these were thwarted by bad refereeing: “It’s on the internet for using the proudest moments I’ve had as a manager. Everyone wrote us off within the tie, everyone thought it was a formality. The referee has taken the overall game from us. We had arrived so superior to your first period of the experience. Our shape was excellent. I guess it’s time a foul on Jeremy [for the red card] … and from edinburgh it turned out difficult but we kept going. The pride in that. I felt so privileged for being the coach.”

“Eventually it was actually a bad goal in our perspective and that is certainly something one or two individuals players have got to learn. We will need to defend better.”

And more about the incident that triggered Toljan’s second booking. “No chance [h deserved it]. The person makes the whole run from behind and just bumps Jeremy over after which it he makes hitting the ground with the striker. I said hello to the referee afterwards … and hubby claimed it had been a definite sending off!”

Ajer and Hayers give their hot takes

Ajer: “The manger published a really clear plan and we did adequately util the sending off … It is a tough game and it also becomes even tougher achievable sending off.”

Hayes: “We knew just what it used to many individuals who travelled out here. We put the entire body exactly in danger and everybody tried their best. I was comfortable inside first half … though the sending off changed the action for many people. If your a guy down it’s more challenging to work with our plan and pressure over the man on your ball.”

Celtic’s European campaign leads to frustrating fashion. There were a great deal of positives within their performances but they also were undone by an avoidable red card for Toljan, a poor miss by Ajer and, in fairness, opponents who passed very niftily sometimes.
